Seismic Vibrators shipping from Alexandria Yard to Fremantle Australia
First Global Logistics successfully transported 4 seismic vibrators, each measuring 10.2 x3.45×3.25 meters and weighing 30,500 kilograms, from the Schlumberger Yard in Alexandria Free Zone. The shipment was divided into 2 separate shipments but traveled on the same vessel, the Jakarta Express. For the transportation, we utilized 1X 40′ flat rack and 3 additional 40′ flat racks, which were booked through two separate bookings with CMA-CGM
Scope of work:
- Loading 4 Vibes on Low Bed Trailers from Schlumberger Site in Alex Free Zone to Warehouse in Damietta.
- Producing 8 assisting Iron sheets to be spread in the 4 Flat racks to support the Vibes Wheels.
- Trucking the 4 Vibrators from Warehouse to Damietta Port.
- Loading & Lashing the 4 Vibrators from Trucks onto 4 Flat rack Inside Damietta port to be near the Vessel for their safety and easy loading on Board.
- The agreed-upon loading plan underwent significant changes once we faced the actual situation. Initially, our plan involved a 6-hour process of loading and lashing the large vibes onto flat racks at the shipper's site. Subsequently, we intended to transport the containers on low bed trailers to Damietta port, aiming to catch the scheduled vessel, the "Jakarta Express."
- However, upon closer examination, it became apparent that moving the wheels based on our original plan would pose serious safety risks due to their massive dimensions. This prompted our team to swiftly switch to Plan B. Under this revised plan, we decided to transport the cargo to a warehouse located in Damietta and complete the necessary operations within the confines of the port.
- After securing the required permissions from the relevant authorities, we took additional measures to ensure the safety and stability of the cargo. This involved producing 8 iron sheets to be placed underneath the huge wheels, providing them with adequate support. Thanks to these adjustments, we successfully accomplished the mission, loading the containers onto the same vessel while ensuring their safety throughout the process.
